The Weekly Roll September 19th 2025

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:

MN Officially Open : Minnesota's first non-tribal recreational cannabis dispensaries opened this week, with RISE Dispensaries and Green Goods beginning adult-use sales after receiving licenses to convert one-third of their medical supply to recreational stock. This marks a major expansion of access since cannabis legalization in 2023, moving beyond previously limited tribal dispensaries to serve customers across the state's metropolitan areas. Article

A Healthier Alternative : A new international study of 20 countries found that legal medical marijuana sales are strongly linked to reduced tobacco and amphetamine use, suggesting people substitute cannabis where it's legally available. The research also showed sustained economic growth, with legalizing countries seeing an average annual increase of over 20 tons in medical cannabis sales. Article

Interesting Number : 30. The number of states that Edible Brands, the company behind Edible Arrangements, has expanded its cannabis delivery service to after a successful launch in Texas, offering hemp-derived THC products through Edibles.com. The expansion comes amid ongoing federal and state debates over hemp policy, with Congress considering potential restrictions on THC-containing hemp products. Article

Sneaky Picasso : A Pablo Picasso portrait of his lover and muse Dora Maar, unseen by the public for 80 years, will be auctioned at a Paris auction house in October with an estimated value of $9.5 million. The 1943 painting "Bust of a Woman in a Flowery Hat" was purchased by a private collector in 1944 and has remained in the same family until being consigned by the current anonymous seller who inherited it from a grandparent. Have a great weekend!
