Happy Friday!
Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:
Recycling Vapes : Michigan is proposing a groundbreaking rule that would allow cannabis businesses to collect and recycle used vape cartridges, potentially making it one of the first states to address the environmental hazards of disposable vaporizers. The Cannabis Regulatory Agency's proposal would require businesses to remove any remaining marijuana concentrate before recycling the cartridges, though some advocates suggest more comprehensive solutions are needed to tackle the growing waste crisis from all-in-one disposable vapes. Maryland Shields Cannabis Offenses : Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has signed a new law requiring the state to automatically shield low-level cannabis conviction records from public view, preventing them from appearing in the Maryland Judiciary Case Search database. This follows Moore's pardoning of 175,000 cannabis convictions last year, which forgave the crimes but didn't remove them from public records. Article
Interesting Number : 74%. The percentage of young adults who substitute THC for alcohol at least once per week, according to a new Bloomberg Intelligence report that identifies cannabis substitution for alcohol as a "fast-emerging" trend across demographics. The survey found that cannabis substitution rates decline with age, with 65% of those aged 25-34 reporting similar behavior compared to just 18% of those 55 and older. Article
Larger than Life Lady : A towering 45-foot statue of a nude woman called "R-Evolution" has been installed in San Francisco in front of the Ferry Building, where it will remain for six months as a symbol of female empowerment. Created by artist Marco Cochrane using steel rods formed into geodesic triangles with 55,000 individual welds, the 32,000-pound sculpture appears to breathe for an hour each day and glows at night.
