MA Considers New Cap : Massachusetts lawmakers are considering eight bills that would increase the cap on cannabis dispensary ownership from the current limit of three, with industry members deeply divided on the issue. While some cannabis operators argue raising the cap would help struggling businesses attract capital from larger companies, nearly 60 industry leaders signed a letter opposing the change, fearing it would lead to market consolidation at the expense of small and social equity businesses. Cannabis and Cancer Consensus : A massive new meta-analysis of over 10,000 studies has found "overwhelming scientific consensus" on marijuana's benefits for cancer-related symptoms, with research support outweighing opposition by more than 31 times. The study suggests cannabis not only helps manage cancer symptoms like pain and nausea but may also have potential anti-cancer properties, prompting researchers to call for a reevaluation of cannabis's legal status. Interesting Number : $316 Million. The value of illicit cannabis products seized in California during the first quarter of 2025, suggesting that enforcement actions will outpace last year's total of $534 million. California's Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force and other agencies have eradicated over 212,000 cannabis plants, seized more than 120,000 pounds of unlicensed cannabis, and made 29 arrests since January. The Return of the Frick : New York's famed Frick Collection has reopened after a five-year, $330 million renovation that thoughtfully blends historic preservation with modern updates. The project, designed by Selldorf Architects, makes the second floor of the 1914 Beaux-Arts mansion accessible to visitors for the first time while adding 27,000 square feet of new space, allowing art lovers to experience both the mansion's intimate residential character and its expanded museum capabilities.
