The Weekly Roll February 27th 2026

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to The Weekly Roll! I hope everyone had a lovely week, here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:

Weed and Guns : The Supreme Court will hear arguments next week in U.S. v. Hemani, challenging the federal law that prohibits marijuana users — including state-authorized medical patients — from owning firearms. Advocates argue the blanket ban is unconstitutionally broad and should only apply to people actively intoxicated, while the Trump administration and law enforcement are urging the court to uphold it. A decision is expected this spring, affecting roughly 6 million medical marijuana patients nationwide. Article

Nebraska Protects Doctors : Despite Nebraska voters legalizing medical cannabis in 2024, few doctors have issued recommendations due to fear of losing their licenses — so a state committee has advanced a bill to explicitly protect practitioners from legal or disciplinary consequences for recommending it. The catch: doctors could still face penalties if they fail to properly evaluate patients, and Nebraska's program lacks the federal protections that shield most other state medical cannabis programs from DOJ enforcement. Article

Interesting Number: A new Quinnipiac poll shows 56% of Pennsylvania voters support adult-use marijuana legalization, with the reform gaining fresh momentum as Gov. Josh Shapiro has included it in his latest budget request. State analysts project the plan could generate up to $432 million in annual tax revenue by 2030, though estimates vary widely. Despite consistent voter support, legalization has repeatedly stalled in the legislature due to GOP resistance in the Senate, leaving its fate this session uncertain. Article

144 Years in the Making : After 144 years of construction, Barcelona's Sagrada Família became the world's tallest church on February 20th when workers placed the final cross atop the Tower of Jesus Christ, bringing the basilica to 566 feet tall. The milestone coincides with the 100th anniversary of architect Antoni Gaudí's death, who devoted the last 15 years of his life to the project but lived to see less than 25% of it completed.  Article

Have a great weekend!
