The Weekly Roll February 13th 2026

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to The Weekly Roll! I hope everyone had a lovely week, here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:

Colorado Taxes : Colorado's marijuana tax revenue has dropped 45% from its 2021 peak, driven by expanding legalization in other states and the rise of intoxicating hemp products. Despite the decline, cannabis still out-earns alcohol, tobacco, and cigarettes in tax revenue. The state crossed $1 billion in marijuana sales in 2025, though a coming federal hemp ban adds uncertainty ahead. Article

Proximity Update : New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation permanently fixing a regulatory blunder that had put over 150 cannabis dispensaries at risk of closure due to a disputed change in how buffer zones near schools and places of worship are measured. The new law codifies the original door-to-door measurement standard that businesses relied on when they opened, restoring compliance for 108 licensees and 44 provisional applicants. Article

Interesting Number: 9. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost filed an antitrust lawsuit against nine major multistate cannabis operators — including Curaleaf, Trulieve, and Green Thumb Industries — accusing them of colluding to push smaller, independent Ohio businesses out of the market. The lawsuit alleges the companies struck deals to prioritize each other's products on dispensary shelves while limiting space for local competitors, keeping prices artificially high for consumers. Article

Olympic Expression : Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych was barred from the Winter Olympics after refusing to remove his "helmet of memory," which featured portraits of 21 Ukrainian athletes killed in the war with Russia. The IOC called it a violation of its guidelines on athletic expression, but the athlete, the helmet's artist, and Ukrainian President Zelensky all defended the act as one of honor and remembrance. Article

Have a great weekend!
