Happy Friday!
Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had an amazing July 4th last weekend! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:
Turkish Progress : Turkey just legalized the sale of low-THC hemp products through licensed pharmacies for medical patients with conditions like chronic pain and epilepsy. This is a significant shift for a country that has historically had very strict drug laws, including up to 5 years in prison for cannabis possession. Article
Legal Dead : Dead and Company shows in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park next month will make history as the first Grateful Dead-related concerts where fans can legally buy cannabis on-site, despite the band's decades-long association with weed culture. The shows will feature a cannabis marketplace and consumption lounge, marking a symbolic shift from the underground pot sales that have happened in Dead show parking lots for over 50 years. Article
Interesting Number : $8 Billion. The all time retail sales for Massachussetts as of June 30th, following a record-breaking first half of 2025. The state reached this mark just months after hitting $7 billion in November 2024, with cannabis flower remaining the most popular product and 754 total marijuana establishments now operating statewide. AI Messi : An AI-powered data sculpture reimagining Lionel Messi's favorite goal—a 2009 Champions League header against Manchester United—sold for $1.87 million at a Christie's auction, with proceeds going to global educational charities. The artwork by media artist Refik Anadol used millions of data points to recreate the goal that helped seal Barcelona's UEFA Champions League victory, and was displayed at Rockefeller Center before the sale.
