The Weekly Roll - June 27th 2025

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:

Athletes for Cannabis Reform : A coalition of sports stars including Mike Tyson, Kevin Durant, and Allen Iverson sent a letter to President Trump urging cannabis reform, specifically calling for clemency for nonviolent marijuana offenders and rescheduling the drug from Schedule I to Schedule III. The group criticized Biden's inaction on cannabis policy and sees Trump's presidency as an opportunity for meaningful marijuana reform.  Article

Thai Walk Back :  Thailand has started banning the sale of cannabis without a prescription, just three years after becoming the first Asian country to decriminalize the plant. The new order requires shops to only sell to customers with prescriptions and source products from certified pharmaceutical-grade farms, with violators facing up to one year in jail and fines. Article

Interesting Number : 92%. The percentage of marijuana industry workers reporting positive job sentiment—the highest across 10 industry sectors. The finding comes despite unique challenges the cannabis industry faces under federal prohibition, including banking restrictions and increased robbery risks due to cash-only operations.  The report argues this signals that “purpose, predictability, and a sense of control over one’s workday matter just as much—if not more—than prestige or pay alone.”Article

Condom on Display : The Rijksmuseum's display of a nearly 200-year-old condom featuring an erotic illustration of a nun and three priests has sparked outrage from a conservative Christian group in the Netherlands. The rare artifact, made from sheep intestine and believed to be a 19th-century brothel souvenir, is part of an exhibition on sex work and public health efforts during a period when prostitution was legal in the country. Have a great weekend!
