Happy Friday!
Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone is enjoying an awesome July 4th! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:
Delaware Poised for Launch : Delaware will launch adult-use cannabis sales on August 1, following the passage of legalization reforms in 2023. The state's new Marijuana Commissioner Joshua Sanderlin emphasized building a "safe, equitable, and accountable" market that will generate revenue for schools, infrastructure, and communities impacted by drug prohibition. The launch faced delays earlier this year when the FBI denied federal background check processes required under the state's licensing requirements, forcing officials to rework the program. Article
Mass Testing Check : Massachusetts cannabis regulators suspended Tyngsborough-based Assured Testing Laboratories for allegedly failing to accurately report marijuana test results and concealing failing results. The lab's cannabis samples were 90% less likely to fail yeast and mold tests compared to the industry average, with only a 0.05% failure rate versus the state average of 4.5%. Article
Interesting Number : 70%. The percentage of required signatures (613,214 of 880,062 needed) to place a marijuana legalization initiative on the 2026 ballot in Florida. This follows Florida's Smart & Safe 2024 attempt that failed to reach the required 60% voter threshold, despite receiving an endorsement from President Trump. Polls show 67% of Florida voters support legalization across party lines. Article
MOWAA Sets Opening Date : Nigeria's Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) in Benin City will officially open to the public on November 11, featuring the inaugural exhibition "Nigeria Imaginary Homecoming" running through April 2026. The 15-acre complex is built atop ruins of ancient Benin City, incorporating excavated walls and gates into its modern structures. Article
Have a great weekend!
