MA Approves Lounges : The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission unanimously approved regulations Thursday allowing legal marijuana consumption in public settings like cafes, dispensaries, lounges, and yoga studios. Social consumption sites must provide rideshare options, cannot serve alcohol alongside cannabis, and must offer food and water to patrons. First licenses will go to social equity program members, with facilities expected to open within 12-18 months, though local communities can choose not to allow them. Article
California Consolidation : Stiiizy, California's largest cannabis retailer, acquired 12 stores from bankrupt conglomerate Gold Flora for $25 million, expanding its footprint to 58 California locations and solidifying its market dominance over competitors. The acquisition comes amid challenging market conditions, with California's legal cannabis industry experiencing declining sales and a recent tax increase pushing quarterly revenue to five-year lows. Interesting Number : 33%. The increase in cannabis stock Tilray Brands and other marijuana stocks following reports that President Trump plans to loosen federal restrictions on marijuana through an executive order directing agencies to reclassify cannabis to the same oversight level as some prescription painkillers. Canadian-based Tilray surged nearly 30%, Canopy Growth jumped 20%, and the AdvisorShares Pure U.S. Cannabis ETF soared almost 40% in premarket trading after the Washington Post reported Trump discussed the plans with House Speaker Mike Johnson. Hippo Bar : A rare hippopotamus-shaped bar by François-Xavier Lalanne sold for $31.4 million at Sotheby's New York, tripling its $7-10 million estimate and setting records as both the artist's highest auction price and the most valuable design object ever sold. The fully functional copper bar, commissioned in 1976 by oil heiress Anne Schlumberger, features a revolving bottle rack, glass storage, ice bucket and serving tray inside the animal's opening side.
