The Weekly Roll - December 6th 2024

Happy Friday!

Hope you all had a wonderful week! The ZZZ’s team has been having a blast at MJ Bizcon this week. Welcome back to The Weekly Roll! Take a look below to see what’s going on this week in cannabis and art:

Consumption Coming To Mass : Massachussett’s Cannabis Control Commission recently announced its intentions to bring consumption licenses to the state, joining other states like Nevada and Arizona. This represents a huge step towards continued social adoption of cannabis, and new opportunities to create new types of experiences for consumers in Massachussetts. There are three types of licenses being discussed: supplemental licenses for existing dispensaries to have lounges, hospitality licenses for places like yoga studios, cafes, and theaters, and event organizer licenses for people looking to host consumption-friendly events. Article

Kentucky Selects First Movers :  In a major first step towards a medical market in Kentucky, the state just selected its first 36 dispensary licensees. This will cover 9 out of the 11 designated cannabis regions in the state. This is the first round of two releases of licenses, the second of which will happen on December 15th. There were over 4,000 applicants for dispensary licenses, as being one of the first with a chance to open represents a massive opportunity in a new market. Article

Interesting Number :$90 Million. The purchase price for Canadian cannabis company Motif, which Organigram just acquired to become the largest Canadian operator by market share (12.4%). The move solidifies the company as the primary market share in vape and pre-roll categories, two of the fastest growing in the market. This also allows the new company to have a more national presence, as Motif’s large presence in Western Canada will greatly complement Organigram’s prominence in the East.  Article

Notre Dame Reopens : Five years after Notre Dame burned in a shocking scene in Paris, the historic cathedral is set to reopen after an incredible renovation undertaking. After just under a billion dollars in donations came from over 150 countries, the repair efforts were more than impressive. More than 2,000 artisans were involved; building materials included a felled oak tree that once stood 88 feet tall. 14,000 square feet of stone was replaced, 8,000 organ pipes were cleaned, and 1,500 solid oak pews were hewed and installed. The newly updated cathedral will reclaim its position as one of the world’s largest tourist attractions in France. Article

Have a Wonderful Weekend!
