Happy Friday!
Hope you all had a wonderful week as we crack into the Holiday Season! Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. Take a look below to see what’s going on this week in cannabis and art:
Minnesota Stalls Rollout: After failing to settle disputes regarding the fairness and legitimacy of the social equity application process, Minnesota is abandoning its preapproval lottery for social equity applicants. This comes amidst lawsuits after ⅔ of applicants were denied for improper applications or speculations of out-of-state interference. Social equity applicants will remain prioritized in the general lottery, according to state officials, although it is unfortunate they will miss out on the originally intended first mover advantage. NFL Eases Up on Cannabis : In another step towards the decriminalization of cannabis in America’s most popular league, the NFL has once again eased up its marijuana policy. The threshold for a positive test has increased from 150 to 350 nanograms per milliliter, making it much less likely to get a positive result. Additionally, the financial penalty for a cannabis violation has changed from 50% of a game check to $15,000 for the first offense and $20k for the second. Article
Interesting Number : 90,000 Pounds. The amount of cannabis seized during a drug raid in San Bernadino County, California, worth over $100 million. The loot was found in a warehouse on a Ranch property in the Hesperia area full of 3,000 large trash bags weighing 30 to 50 pounds apiece, and took 51 truckloads to unload. Currently, no arrests have been made, as this happened this week, but the case is developing. Article
Expansion for the Met : One of New York’s most iconic museums, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, released plans for its new 126,000-square-foot modern and contemporary art wing. The five-story $550 Million extension of the already enormous museum will be designed by Frida Escobedo, the first woman to design a wing for the museum. The wing has been in the works since 2014 and will be named the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing after its two primary donors. Article
