Happy Friday!
Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:
Carter Stays Neutral on Rescheduling : Sara Carter, Trump's drug czar nominee, dodged questions about cannabis rescheduling from senators, giving only vague responses about following federal law. This comes as the cannabis rescheduling process has stalled for nine months, despite Trump promising a decision "within weeks" back in August. Article
Cherokees Defend Sovereignty : Cherokee Chief Michell Hicks defended the tribe's cannabis operation after Senator Thom Tillis questioned its legality at a Senate hearing, claiming it preys on young people and illegally transports marijuana across non-contiguous tribal lands. Hicks called the accusations inaccurate and offensive, emphasizing the tribe's sovereignty and lawful operation under their own jurisdiction. Article
Interesting Number : 90 Days. The length of the executive order Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued banning the sale of intoxicating hemp products (like delta-8 THC) starting Tuesday, citing dangers to children from candy-like packaging and lack of regulation. The hemp industry called it an overreach that will hurt farmers and small businesses, while several legislative bills are pending that would regulate rather than ban these products. Article
BIG NEWS IN PHILLY : The Philadelphia Museum of Art rebranded to the Philadelphia Art Museum (yes, just swapping two words), claiming the change "places Philadelphia front and center." The museum also unveiled a new logo, typography, and visual identity designed by branding studio Gretel after over a year of research and collaboration. Article
Have a great weekend!
