The Weekly Roll October 24th 2025

Happy Friday!

Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:

Cannabis Outpacing Tobacco use : More Americans now use marijuana than smoke cigarettes, with cannabis-only use rising to 10.6% while cigarette-only use declined to 8.8% between 2021-2023, according to a new study from SUNY and the University of Kentucky. Researchers attributed the shift to changing harm perceptions and expanding legalization, though they warned rising cannabis use could pose public health concerns. Article

MA Ban Pushes On : A Massachusetts campaign to roll back adult-use marijuana legalization is "on track" to collect enough signatures for the 2026 ballot, according to campaign spokesperson Wendy Wakeman. The initiative would eliminate commercial cannabis sales while maintaining medical marijuana access and possession of up to one ounce. Article

Interesting Number : 15,000+. The number of patients Kentucky has approved for its upcoming medical cannabis program, Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday. The state plans to have all necessary business licenses issued by next week, with the first processing facility inspection scheduled for October 29. Beshear previously indicated that licensed dispensaries are expected to open and begin serving patients by the end of the year. Article

Louvre Heist : Thieves used power tools and a vehicle-mounted lift to break into the Louvre Museum in Paris last Thursday, stealing eight priceless 19th-century jewels, including items belonging to Empress Eugénie and other French royalty before escaping on scooters. Two items, including Empress Eugénie's damaged crown, were later recovered near the museum, which remains closed as police search for four suspects. Article

Have a great weekend!
