Happy Friday!
Welcome back to The Weekly Roll. I hope everyone had a lovely week! Here is what’s happening this week in cannabis and art:
Kentucky Post : Kentucky's first legal medical marijuana dispensary will open in a fitting location—a former U.S. Post Office commissioned by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, now transformed into The Post Dispensary in Beaver Dam. Owner Tripp Hoffman said the fully licensed facility is ready to begin sales in late November once state-approved product arrives, with nearly 15,000 Kentucky residents already approved for medical cannabis cards. Columbia Sales Commence : Colombia has authorized the domestic sale of medical marijuana, closing a legal loophole that had allowed the country to export cannabis since 2021 but not sell it at home. Pharmacies and veterinary clinics will be able to sell cannabis flower with a license, and consumers will need a medical prescription, with full regulations expected within five months. Article
Interesting Number : 1.9 Billion as of September. New Mexico is on track to reach $2 billion in total cannabis sales since recreational legalization in April 2022, with the milestone expected by year's end based on current monthly averages of $47 million. Albuquerque leads the state with over $617 million in combined medical and adult-use sales, though overall sales are down compared to 2024. Article
Oakland MOA Robbed : More than 1,000 artifacts—including Native American baskets, antique daguerreotypes, jewelry, and precious metals—were stolen from the Oakland Museum of California's off-site storage facility on October 15 when thieves broke in around 3:30 a.m. The FBI's Art Crime Team is investigating the heist, which marks the third burglary at the museum in 15 years, with no arrests made yet as authorities appeal to the public for help recovering the stolen items.
